Sanitary measures lifted in 12 prisons after mumps outbreak

The health authorities lifted the sanitary measures in most of the prisons of the country, after the outbreak of mumps that affected 656 people, including officials and prisoners.

However, the Ministry of Health confirmed that they maintain the sanitary orders in these five prisons: CAI Adulto Mayor, UAI 20 de Diciembre in PococĂ­, CAI Vilma Curling Rivera, CAI Nelson Mandela in San Carlos, and CAI 26 de Julio in Puntarenas.

In the remaining prisons, visits are already allowed, however, hygiene measures are maintained, including constant hand washing.

Due to the outbreak of mumps, more than 30 thousand people were vaccinated, and so far no new cases have been reported.
