Scammers are posing as CRHoy journalists to get personal information

December 17, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A group of people who pose as CRHoy journalists are requesting information on behalf of this newspaper. Through an email called “investigacioncrhoy@gmail.com” they claim to be part of the journalistic team and ask for sensitive information to different people, including criminal record data.

CRHoy stated that all journalists have an email address that bears their names, surname and ends in @ crhoy.com. In addition, CRHoy emails have the journalist’s signature, as well as a series of data about the media and the reporter.

No CRHoy email ends at @ gmail.com and you should NOT respond to emails that ask for sensitive data. Please #NoCaiga (don’t fall into the trap) and do not reveal information to unscrupulous people. Call 2210-8600 to file a complaint.
