Sebastían needs Costa Ricans’ help!

January 16, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Sebastián-on-the-picture

On December 29th, 2016, people knew about Sebastián and the struggle he has faced during his short life.

His parents appeal once again to Costa Ricans’ solidarity, because they fear that the day to fly to the United States comes and they do not have the money to pay for it.

His father, Tony Barboza, sent a message of appreciation to every person who, in recent weeks, supported them with messages of fortitude and prayers for Sebastián and the family.

“Sebas’ condition can be considered stable, but he has in his head is a time bomb. We are people who do not really have the financial resources to face this big challenge,” informed the father.

Sebastián began his battle when he was barely 9 months old. Today, he is 9 years old and his struggle hasn’t finished. In 2016, a new tumor in the brain stem was detected and it cannot be operated through traditional methods, because the possibility of complications is high.

The closest hope they have is found in a Miami medical center, where a laser surgery, called “Gamma Knife”, is performed.

The family has the support of the child’s doctors and they even have a tentative date for March, but they do not have the money to pay for it.

They need $ 35,000 (about 19.6 million colones) to cover the treatment and Sebastian and his parents’ stay for a week.
