Sellers: “Mother’s Day sales were not at their best”

August 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

As usual, Costa Ricans decided to buy Mother’s Day gift in the last minute. As consequence, there are people who are still buying presents. However, according to sellers, sales weren’t at their best.

Sales were better on Father’s Day. They weren’t as expected. We do not know what happened. We believe that people are looking for things that can pay with credit cards because they have no money, so they decide to buy cellphones and home appliances,

explained Guiselle Monge, manager of a shoe store.

She added that among the products that people are looking for there are boots, moccasins and bags.

Margarita Pérez, manager of a store, said that clothing, shoes and cosmetics is what they have sold the most but never as in previous years.

The manager of a shoe store in San José, Carlos Robles, declared that the weekend was weak and on Monday he sold a little more.

People prefer to take their moms to a restaurant or give them a turistic tour so they can enjoy more,

stated Robles.
