Six tourists were rescued after water accident in Guanacaste

Six tourists were rescued, after suffering a water accident, by officers of the Coastguard of Flamingo, Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.

The accident was recorded on Sunday morning at Zapotal beach in the Sardina l district. Apparently, six residents of the canton of Abangares, were fishing when a strong wave hit them and threw them towards the rocks, after which three were isolated on an island and three were into the sea.

The Coast Guard Station of Flamingo sent the vessel GC 32-02 with six officers to assist the tourists, who were rescued and taken to a safe place. Those affected were taken to Flamingo, where the Coastguard coordinated the services of paramedics, two ambulances of the Red Cross, and a private ambulance, to assist them.

Of the five tourists, only one, identified as Jerson Lacayo, 38, had to be transferred to Clínica de Filadelfia, due to the possible fractures of the ribs and femur. The remaining five tourists, identified as Eduardo López, Javier Trigueros, Ariel Lacayo, José Salazar and Luis Cubillo, did not suffer serious injuries.
