Officers of the Border Police of the Ministry of Public Security seized a huge contraband of medicines and toiletries in Peñas Blancas de La Cruz, Guanacaste on Monday morning.

These police operations were carried out a few meters from the border with Nicaragua, in a sector where foreigners are concentrated to continue their journey through Costa Rican territory.

The agents saw a suspicious man and, when checking the merchandise he was carrying, verified that the articles were introduced to the country irregularly.

The Nicaraguan national, named Jarquín, had 190 units of deodorants, 144 units of toothpaste, 780 envelopes of coffee and 14 cigarettes, all ready for commercialization.

Soon after, also near the border with Nicaragua, another citizen named López was approached by the officers, who had to confiscate a significant amount of medicines.

The Border Police confirmed López was carrying 1,200 diclofenac units, 400 units of amoxicillin, 100 units of ibuprofen tablets and 1,000 eucalyptus capsules, among other medicines.
