Solís condemns legislators are not hearing the “popular outcry”

October 5, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Although President Solís thanked many legislators for their votes to pass the law that would give resources to the Ministry of Security to hire more police officers, he attacked others, without naming them, for wanting to interfere, in his opinion, with what people want in the country.

Otto Guevara, from the Libertarian Movement, and Rosibel Ramos from the Social Christian Unity Party were the hardest critics after the announcement of resignation made by the Security Minister if the law is not approved.

What I condemn is that a few legislators insist on not hearing the popular outcry and the explanations by the Executive about the importance of having more human resources,”

said the President.

In addition, Solís also criticized “the expressions of disrespect” towards him,  Minister Mata and all citizens.

Solís defended Mata’s work, claiming that he had rarely seen such patience and repetitive Minister in his plea to the Legislators.

The Minister of Security asked for the same respect he has shown to the Legislature. Also, he does not think it’s appropiate to start a power struggle in the country’s situation. However, the Minister will not change his decision to resign if the law of public limited companies is not approved in the legislative plenary.
