January 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

In the first national broadcast of the year, President Luis Guillermo Solís boasted of the economic recovery that the country had through the “Impulso” (Impulse) program.

A year has passed since the government launched the program to improve the conditions of competitiveness of the country.

The set of actions announced by President Solis included measures for economic recovery that will promote the necessary conditions to stimulate a reduction in interest rates and encourage the reactivation of production, with works aiming to speed up the execution of foreign loans to reduce paperwork and speed up the assistance to small producers,

declared vice president and finance minister Helio Fallas.

Among the achievements that stand out there is the decline in basic passive rate, which rose from 6.50% in October 2015 to 4.60% in 2016.

They also noted that the Institutional Supply Program (PAI), “emerged from bankruptcy” and went from owing 3,200 million to having sales beyond 35 billion colones.

Last December, the Comptroller General of the Republic gave the approval for the construction of the National Congress and Convention Center, which will start this year in Barreal de Hereda.
