Some artisans and the Municipality of San José have reached an agreement

September 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

A group of 12 vendors from the Painting and Craft Market, located on Street 13 bis, agreed to leave the site before September 30th, the deadline imposed by the Municipality of San José (MSJ)..

They will move to the new Craft Market built by the municipality 2 years ago, in the South side of Garantías Sociales Park. The agreement was possible after the Ombudsman’s intervention and visit.

Marcelo Solano, head of the Municipal Police, said there are several people who are representing different groups and different interests to move, or not, to the new space.

According to Solano, in the days to come, a second group could move. There are other vendors who have not made the decision yet and met with Mayor Johnny Araya and some legislators to talk about a bill which, according to them, allows them to remain at Street 13 bis.
