Strike at ICE is illegal

The Labor Court of the First Judicial Circuit of San José determined that the strike at the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) is illegal, since the public electricity service is essential.

In addition, the Court condemned the Trade Union Association of Telecommunications, Electricity and Allied Workers (ANTTEA); the National Association of Technicians and Workers of Energy and Communications (ANTTEC); the Trade Union Association of Industrial Employees of Communications and Energy (ASDEICE); the Union of Engineers of the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity and Related Industries (SIICE); the Trade Union of Professionals of the ICE Group (SIPROCEICE); the Industrial Union of Electrical and Telephone Telecommunications Workers (SITET); the Association of Lawyers and Professionals of the ICE Group (ABOGAPROICE) and the Costa Rican Trade Union Association of Telecommunications and Electricity (ACOTEL), for the payment of 500 thousand colones each.
