Strike in the IMAS was declared illegal

September 28, 2018 by Staff News Writer

On Thursday afternoon, the Labor Court of the First Judicial Circuit of San José determined that the strike promoted by the National Association of Public Employees (ANEP) in the Joint Institute of Social Assistance (IMAS) is illegal.

Judge Rudy Araya Jiménez ruled that the procedure to verify the percentage of minimum support required (a general assembly) was not complied with, in accordance with article 381 of the Labor Code.

The sentence also condemned the ANEP to pay ¢500 thousand.

This is the seventh institution where the strike has been deemed illegal: the National Production Council, the Ministry of Housing and Human Settlements, the National Emergency Commission, the Central Bank of Costa Rica, the Social Protection Board, and Japdeva.
