Strong earthquake shakes the Upala area

January 11, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A new tremor in the area of Bijagua in Upala was described by the neighbors as very strong. The 5-degree earthquake was recorded at 1:57 p.m. on Thursday.

The movement occurred 11 km east of Bijagua, reported the National Seismological Network (RSN).

Since Wednesday night, a series of earthquakes have been perceived in this sector, which even caused the closure of Tenorio National Park as a preventive measure.
