Strong quake shook Nicaragua

A strong earthquake of 5.2 on the Richter scale shook the Pacific region of Nicaragua on Wednesday, without reports of casualties or damage.

The movement that caused alarm in the population occurred minutes before 11 a.m. and its epicenter was located 14 km southeast of the spa of Masachapa, at a depth of 43 km, according to reports from the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INETER).

The tremor was caused by the clash of the tectonic plates Coco and Caribe.
