Strong quake shook Ticos on Tuesday morning

A major earthquake was reported at 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the report of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica, the tremor had a a preliminary magnitude 3.2 degrees and occurred 7 km southeast of Colón in Mora, San José. It occurred five kilometers deep.

The tremor was reported as very strong in much of the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM), mainly in areas such as downtown San José, Hatillo, Desamparados, Acosta, Aserrí, alajuelita, Pavas, Coronado and Heredia.
