Strong winds caused more than 30 fallen trees, affected roads and short circuits

January 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Monday morning, the Fire Department received 30 reports of falling trees, and short circuits in various sectors due to strong winds.

Dayanne Contreras, from the Central Communications Department of the entity, reported that they are handling emergencies in Turrialba, Zarcero, Talamanca, Santo Domingo de Heredia and Pacayas in Cartago. However, there are no people or homes directly affected.

In relation to affected roads, route 32 is completely closed and route 10, which communicates Cartago with Turrialba has limited transit.

The influence of a cold front has led to unstable conditions in the country. This is expected to last until Tuesday, according to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).
