Students receive uniforms thanks to Telethon donations

May 16, 2017 by Staff News Writer

About 5072 students from 49 schools in Upala, Guatuso, La Cruz and Golfito have benefited from the delivery of uniforms purchased with part of the donations collected during the 2016 Telethon.

The students of the Canalete Highschool in Upala were the most recent beneficiaries of these donations.

In February, President Luis Guillermo Solís signed a decree that allowed the National Emergency Commission (CNE) to donate money to the administrative boards to buy uniforms.

So far, ¢276 million have been invested to help students in the areas affected by Hurricane Otto.

Some applications that have been filed in recent days are still being processed.
