Sugar for Upala in a bitter moment

December 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

After Hurricane Otto hit Upala, many families were affected by the lack of food, including sugar.

Therefore, the Agricultural, Industrial Cane League (LAICA) donated 8,400 kilos of sugar to neighboring areas.

The first donation was 5,400 kilos, it was sent immediately after the hurricane. On December 14th, 3,000 kilos were sent.

In addition, the group authorized a winery in Guanacaste to store the product while it is distributed among the beneficiaries.
