Sun Country will increase flights to Liberia

August 26, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The US airline Sun Country announced that it will increase its flights to Daniel Oduber International Airport, in Liberia, Guanacaste.

Starting in December, Sun Country will go from 38 to 53 flights from the twin cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul (in Minnesota, USA) to Guanacaste. The plan will run until March 2019.

The 53 flights will be distributed as follows: six in December 2018; 14 in January, 15 in February, and 18 in March 2019.

According to the projections, this will be one of the most important high seasons we have had in recent years. We hope it will bring many benefits for all the communities,”

said Minister of Tourism, MarĂa Amalia Revelo.

During the winter, heavy snow and low temperatures hit Minnesota, so it could be extremely attractive for residents of that state to fly to Liberia during the Costa Rican dry season.

The United States is the main source of tourists to Costa Rica with 1.2 million visitors in 2017, a figure that represents 40% of international arrivals in this period.

Minneapolis-Saint Paul is the largest metropolitan area in the state of Minnesota, with a population of over three million.
