Surprise visits to avoid multiple pregnancies

The Ministry of Health will make surprise periodical inspections to the only private center authorized by the entity to perform in vitro fertilization procedures (IVF) in the country, Centro Fecundar Costa Rica.

According to Dr. César Gamboa, director of Garantía de Acceso a los Servicios de Salud, the center will be asked the patient registry to check how many embryos are being implemented in order to avoid multiple pregnancies.

The physician in charge of this private center, Dr. Ariel Perez, said that many patients have called to express their interest in this treatment, valued in $ 6,800, including follicular aspiration, culture and transfer, three doctor appointments and medicines.
