Suspect of Liberia’s Massacre will be held in Maximum Security

February 6, 2017 by Staff News Writer

According to the press office of the Ministry of Justice and Peace, on Saturday, the main suspect of killing five young students in Liberia was transferred to La Reforma prison, where he will be held in Maximum Security for a year, while the investigation against him continues.

The suspect, named Ríos Mairena, was arrested on Friday.

The 33-year old man is being investigated for hurting a minor and beheading five university students with a kitchen knife in the home they rented a few meters from his house.

During the raid conducted by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), important evidence was found such as the knife with which he would have committed the massacre, a shoe with blood samples and other important elements.

The subject was already been jailed between 2012 and 2015 for drug trafficking offenses. However, despite a sentence of eight years, he regained his freedom on a court of conditional execution of sentence.
