Suspects of assaulting Spaniards in Rincón de La Vieja were arrested

August 9, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The adventure that a group of Spanish tourists undertook to discover the paths of Rincón de la Vieja National Park ended up becoming a nightmare after they were assaulted by three hooded men with a knife in hand.

The victims were stripped of items such as: cell phones, handbags, coats, a spotlight, binoculars, and cash (euros and colones). Minutes after the alert, the authorities of the Public Force and Tourist Police went inside the National Park and managed to arrest two of the assailants; both neighbors of the zone.

The authorities investigate whether the suspects have a criminal record and are trying to locate the third suspect.
