Syncytial virus cases decrease in HNN

July 14, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Last Tuesday, the amount of children admitted the Hospital Nacional de Niños (HNN) for respiratory virus infections began to decrease. However, medical authorities from the hospital maintain the internal state of emergency.

Hospital’s deputy director, Carlos Jiménez, stated that in the last hours the situation has returned to normal. He explained that by Wednesday at 4:00 pm there were 114 children in the hospital, 20 of them were in critical condition in the emergency services and intensive care unit.

The doctor said that despite the slight decrease, the hospital will keep open the temporary ward facilities enabled some weeks ago in other areas.

He reminded parents not to neglect hygiene and avoid going to crowded places.
