From Wednesday until next Friday, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) will use dance, theater and music to convey a message against tobacco consumption in the communities of Talamanca, Sixaola and Valle La Estrella.

This strategy was implemented by the entity the previous year to persuade people of the need to quit smoking, and instead take other life practices such as dance, music and performing arts.

Rodrigo Solís, chief of the subarea of Cultural Heritage of the CCSS, said that cultural groups of the institution such as the Ballet Folklorico Nayuribe and “Fund of Surprises” staged a show of approximately 2 hours in which the population enjoys, while being educated and informed about tobacco consumption.

The show also emphasizes the protective effects of physical activity for physical and mental health.

This activity has been presented in different parts of the province of Limón, such as Cariari, Guápiles, Guácimo, Siquirres, Matina and also in Pérez Zeledón, Buenos Aires, Palmar Norte and Osa.

The entity also launched the “Commitment against smoking” project, which is being developed in different educational centers of the country.
