Tax Reform published in La Gaceta after first reading

October 9, 2018 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday, the Official Gazette published the bill to strengthen public finances approved last Friday with the backing of 35 legislators.

In total, there are 83 pages in the publication. Carolina Hidalgo, president of the Congress, recalled that this occurred after the approval of a motion that same day, which in turn, establishes the consultation of several institutions.

Hidalgo stressed that they have until October 19th to receive the answers. With regard to the consultation to the Constitutional Chamber, Hidalgo said this is another procedure and is carried out only if they get 10 legislators to sign.

Regarding the possibility of the Chamber declaring the unconstitutionality of the initiative, either by procedure or by content, Hidalgo said she was confident because “the procedure has been fully complied with.”
