The draft of a new Constitution will continue despite the decision of TSE

September 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The project for a new Constitution will continue, despite the ruling issued on Wednesday by the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), which rejected the request to call a referendum for a Constituent National Assembly.

The TSE rejected the request made from a group of citizens and former Comptroller General of the Republic and former legislator Alex Solís to collect signatures in order to call for referendum.

The initiative’s proponents expressed that they respect the ruling of the judges, but they will keep working on it due the importance of the project for the country’s democratic life and the institutional development.

According to TSE, the petition is unconstitutional.
