The first locomotive collision of 2017 took place in Tres Ríos

January 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

During the first day of operation of the railway in 2017, the first locomotive collision occurred at about 9 am in Tres Ríos.

The story is the same: the driver of a light vehicle disrespected the stop sign, just as locomotive 81 provided the service between Cartago and San José. The impact damaged the car’s front part, while the train was not affected.

2016 closed with 120 collisions on the train, while there were only 77 collisions registered in 2015. In all cases, drivers did not see or hear the train, or they simply decided to take a chance.
