The government is concerned about the budget reduction

October 26, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Government’s concern about the reduction on the budget 2017 is real. However, it has nothing to do with the amount defined by the Committee on Financial Affairs, but where this cut took place.

According to the Executive, the impact will affect essential services for the population and that was not taken into account by the members of the Commission.

The cut was 12 billion colones in the budget of ministries.

Deputy Minister of Finance José Francisco Pacheco and Minister of the Presidency Sergio Alfaro considered that the cut was made without considering the effect it can have on the functioning of institutions.

Taking money from children through PANI, reducing the MOPT’s budget, that will affect the production of asphalt, as well as the work of the Traffic Police, are some of the critics made by the government.

In addition, authorities stated that it will affect the public procurement system and police’s operations on Fiscal Control.

The Government believes that it is time to make some modifications and it is trying to negotiate with the Assembly to vote in November in order to change the situation.
