In 2105, 25% of the 4,000 thousand tons of solid waste produced by the country ended up in rivers and beaches, causing great environmental pollution, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
For this reason, several state institutions have made efforts to raise public awareness about the importance of generating a positive footprint in the environment regarding waste created through practices such as recycling or the disposal of single-use plastic.
In that context, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), the Ministry of Health and the National Learning Institute (INA) launched a virtual education guide “Reduction of single-use plastic”.
Through the website www.inavirtual.ed.cr people can be trained on the environmental damage caused by the use of plastic. In addition, they can also be trained to reduce the use of this material and thus help reduce pollution.
