These are the country’s challenges, according to INTERPOL

July 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The INTERPOL sees computer crime, drug trafficking and border protection as the main security challenges for Costa Rica.

This was explained by Gustavo Chinchilla, director of the INTERPOL office in the country. For him, the country must strengthen these points to face the security threats of concern in the country.

In their opinion, police forces maintain good coordination, but key aspects must be strengthened.

Chinchilla says that the country must strengthen controls at national borders against of unwanted people, such as terrorist who want to hide for a while.

Another of INTERPOL’s recommendations is to hit national and international organizations involved in drug trafficking and the production of child pornography.

For the specialist, the problem of computer crime is booming at an international level where cyber extortions and virtual abductions are practically in vogue.

The agent pointed out that criminal organizations analyze the profile of the people they attack.

They are going to attack someone who depends on the information they have. The targets are exclusively selected. They do not work randomly,”

explained Chinchilla.

He also recommends the country to be prepared as these attacks can be directed against national institutions and companies.
