These areas are still under a green alert

October 29, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) reported on Monday that the green alert is still in force in the Central and South Pacific, the North Zone and the Caribbean, due to heavy rains that have occurred in the last hours.

The cantons of Sarapiquí and the upper part of Guanacaste, meaning La Cruz, Liberia, Bagaces, and Tilarán, are interacting with the second cold front of the season, according to information from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN). During the weekend we had rainfall in the Central Pacific and the Nicoya Peninsula,”

said Sigifredo Pérez.

Peérez said that shelters were set up in Parrita and Paquera, but only one is available.

We are assessing the weather conditions and the status of the alerts that are maintained in the country. In the case of San Ramón, on route 720, between Bajos de Chachagua and La Fortuna, on Saturday morning we determined the main problem was that the flooded river washed on the bridge slope. We are working to restore transit in the shortest time possible,”

added Pérez.
