Three ocelots were apparently hit by cars

March 22, 2017 by Staff News Writer

An unusual situation took place last weekend in a highway in the South Zone of the country. From Saturday to Sunday three ocelots were lying on the street. They were apparently hit by a car.

Two of the animals died, but the other one survived, as it can be seen in the video recorded by Misael López, who found the feline on Saturday morning on the route to Puerto Jiménez.

The ocelot had wounds in one of its legs, however, that did not prevent him from entering the mountain.

The other two animals were not that lucky. When they were found on the highway, they were already dead.

Lopez calls for drivers’ awareness, especially when driving in these areas and if you run over one of these animals, try to assist it or call the competent authorities.
