Tips to protect yourself on the Internet!

February 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

A study shows that about 83% of social network and Internet users in Latin America feel exposed, mainly when using Facebook.

Eset security company conducted the consultation during 2016 and determined that 31% of people said that they are outraged by the ease with which personal information is filtered, in the absence of online services that adequately protect their information.

But this concern for online vulnerability extends globally. Given this scenario, there are some recommendations that shouldn’t be ignored.

How to protect yourself?
-Lock the data: this is achieved by strong and constantly changing passwords. Do not use the same passwords for several accounts.
-Periodic reviews of privacy settings in web services and social network accounts: you must selectively adjust them according to the confidentiality of the data.
-Read the permissions of the applications before downloading them.
-Study the consequences, regardless of the medium you use: everyone should be their own editor, and evaluate whether the publication or the action will harm their professional or personal life.
-Think before you act: for example, when you receive a tempting offer. If something on the Internet sounds too good to be true (whether it’s unrealistic contests or apps to “magically” boost your popularity), it probably is not.
-Do not be selfish and also take care of other people’s privacy, how? Analyzingwhat effect publications will have if they involve third parties.
