Treasury reports 12,856 affected by mysterious mass affiliation to cooperative

February 15, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The National Treasury, which is in charge of paying Central Government salaries, reported on Thursday that 12,856 public employees were affected by a massive affiliation to Cooperativa de Producción Agropecuaria y Servicios Multiples de Pocora RL (Cooproaserpo RL).

According to the Treasury, attached to the Ministry of Finance, the first half of February, paid yesterday to public officials, included for some workers a reimbursement for affiliation to Cooproaserpo, in accordance with the “Agreement for the Deduction of Salaries and Pensions,” signed between the deducting entity (the cooperative) and the National Treasury.

According to the Treasury, the agreement signed with each entity states the cooperative is responsible for the reimbursement requests it processes.

Cooperativa Cooproaserpo initiated the application of deductions for February 2019 and submitted the formal application and form for 15,285 people, for ¢11,800.00 for each one, divided in ¢5,900 in the first and ¢5,900 in the second half of February. However, not everyone got a reimbursement now.”

The Ministry of Finance delegated all responsibility to the cooperative, which in its official records reports only 24 affiliates.

Several public employees are organized to present a report to the Fraud Prosecutor for this case.
