Trump defends new immigration system based on merits

March 1, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump defended the adoption of a new immigration system in the United States, based on merits and qualifications of candidates, to prevent people with low job training from entering the country.

If we move from the current immigration system and adopt a system based on merit, we will have many benefits: we’ll save money, we’ll raise wages and we’ll help struggling families -including immigrant families- to join the middle-class,”

said the President.

Trump also promised to start the construction of the controversial wall on the border with Mexico, aiming to curb drugs and crime.
