TSE cancels credentials from Mayor of Matina

March 30, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Supreme Court of Elections (TSE) canceled the credential to Matina’s Mayor, Elvis Lawson Villafuerte, on Wednesday-

The TSE made the decision after accepting a request from the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR), who also recommended banning him from holding public office for two years.

The inspection body made Lawson responsible for not presenting the municipal budget in time for the year 2014.

According to the Comptroller’s Office, Lawson failed to comply with obligations stipulated by the Political Constitution, the Municipal Code and the Organic Law of the General Comptroller of the Republic, failing to submit the municipality’s expenditure plan for 2014 in time.

The resolution is not yet final because the TSE granted 8 days for the parties to file a review.
