Turrialba Volcano erupts after 3 weeks of peace

December 7, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday morning, at 11:30 a.m., Turrialba Volcano erupted again. After three weeks of peace and quiet, the volcano expelled ash and gases at a height of 400 meters above the height of the crater.

The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) indicates that the winds blowed westward and that did not receive any reports of ashfall or sulfur smells in nearby communities.
