Turrialba Volcano is constantly active

The latest report from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica National University (OVSICORI-UNA) indicates that during the last 24 hours the volcano’s activity remains constant.

The colossus maintains a continuous tremor of low amplitude, associated with eruptive activity.

On Wednesday morning it was possible to see the composite gas, aerosols and ash plume no more than 300 meters above the volcano’s summit.

According to the OVSICORI, the prevailing wind direction to the southwest. These winds have a variable speed, ranging from 14 km/h to 57 km/h, according to data from the meteorological station of the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).

So far there are no reports of ash fall or smell of sulfur and cloudiness at the top of the volcano.
