December 7, 2016 by Staff News Writer

After several days of little activity, Turrialba’s ash eruptions resumed reaching almost a thousand meters high.

Eliécer Duarte, expert from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) said that on Tuesday they visited the areas surrounding the volcano to document the activity.

In the afternoon the plume was more vigorous, directed mainly towards the West, depositing most of the materials in the protected area, rivers and reaching communities such as Moravia and Coronado,”

said the expert.

The rivers also continue to carry ash, especially the Aquiares, the Turrialba and the Toro Amarillo.
