Turrialba Volcano keeps emanating gas

February 13, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Although Turrialba Volcano’s most recent gas eruptions have not exceeded 500 meters high, the colossus remains constantly active.

There have been sporadic eruptions that last 10 to 15 minutes, with ash emanations that progressively decrease. What does remain constant is the emanation of gases and the incandescence during the night,

said Blas Sánchez, geologist of the National Emergency Commission (CNE).

According to the expert, sometimes the phenomenon cannot be seen due to the clouds resulting from the cold front that affects the country.
