April 12, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The scientists of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of the National University are closely monitoring the increased activity in the Turrialba Volcano.

On Thursday morning, the massif released a large amount of water vapor and gases, which reached almost the kilometer in the air. On Wednesday night there was a lot of incandescence that was even observed from Irazú Volcano.

According to scientists, this behavior has been occurring for a few days, which has caught the attention of the residents of the area. Experts remind the population that this is an active volcano, it is always dangerous to approach it.

At the moment there is no report of ash release that could affect the Central Valley.
