Turtle arrival began early this year in Ostional

September 24, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Asociación de Guías Locales de Ostional

The mass arrival of turtles to Ostional on Saturday offered a wonderful show for those who live or are visiting this area.

The Association of Local Guides of Ostional reported on their social networks that this arrival was expected for the first week of October; however, it is welcome due to the splendid natural wonder it offers.

The association showed that, not only did turtles come to the beach to lay their eggs, but there have also been small turtle hatchlings that now seek their way to the sea.

The warm climate of Ostional makes it one of the few places in the world where the arribadas maintain healthy and constant populations. Arrivals can add up to 100 thousand turtles in a few days and there are records of up to 300,000 turtles in less than a week.
