UCR authorizes student’s demonstration

October 7, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Students of Health Sciences at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) will demonstrate against the new form of rotating internship on Friday, October 7th.

UCR students are going to march to the Presidential House to object the new requirements and conditions that the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) implemented in the rotating internship, a practice that students have to do in medical centers as part of their career.

In Zapote, they will not be meeting with Luis Guillermo Solís, since the President is currently in Panama.

The students specifically oppose the fact that now they must take and pass a preliminary examination before their professional practice, and they will be placed in hospitals and clinics following a random selection process.
