Union maneuver delays resolution on illegality of strike in CNP

October 3, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A last-minute maneuver by the Trade Union of Workers of the National Production Council (CNP) delayed the process by which the Court of Appeals hears the ruling handed down by the Labor Court of the First Judicial Circuit of San José, which declared the illegality of the strike in that institution.

The court issued the resolution on September 21st. Administratively, that resolution had to be sent to the Court of Appeal for a final decision; however, this step has not been carried out, because the union decided to go to court to claim they had not been taken into account at the time the resolution was issued.

According to the Communication Office of the Supreme Court of Justice, this claim was resolved on Monday and was rejected. Once the notification is fulfilled, the matter may be referred to the Court of Appeals.

This last step is necessary so that the Administration of the CNP can take possible measures against the officials who are going on strike, which may even include dismissal without employer responsibility.
