Unions await news about possible meeting with legislators

September 26, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Frente Amplio legislator José María Villalta talked with his colleagues in the Plenary while representatives of the Union waited for him in his office, located on the second floor of the Sion building.

As indicated by the trade union representatives, they wanted Villalta to give them news about a possible meeting with the heads of fraction. The unions intend to explain their points of view and why they think the project of Strengthening Public Finances should be withdrawn.

The movement has already been declared illegal in six institutions. The most recent demonstration mobilized thousands of people and Albino Vargas highlighted the scope, although the government has not slowed down its intention to move forward with the tax reform.

This Wednesday, legislators felt the pressure of having the request made by the President Carlos to speed the process of the tax project on the one hand, and the request by the trade unionists on the other.
