US frigate intercepts vessel with apparent drug

October 4, 2019 by Staff News Writer

A frigate (warship) from the United States intercepted a vessel with apparent drugs in Costa Rican waters last Monday, and this Thursday it will be analyzed by Costa Rican authorities.

The Press Office of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) reported that the case is in the hands of judicial agents in Corredores, with the support of officers of the National Coast Guard Service.

Apparently this boat could contain drugs. Yesterday it arrived in port and today the review begins. It seems that it has several packages that may contain drugs. The partners are going to do the removal of these packages to see if they actually have drugs and count them,”

said the Security press office.

In the afternoon, the authorities will give more details of the boat, its crew and what these packages contained.
