Where are the drug traffickers released by the judge?

April 20, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Two men were discovered with a marijuana lab and over 300 plants in their hands. However, they were released after a judge said the raid was illegal.

Now, the authorities are looking for them and have already issued an arrest warrant against the Jamaican subjects. So far, their location is unknown and they might have fled the country.

The raid was conducted in late in March when the Drug Control Police (PCD) and the Armed Forces arrested the suspects named Torpe and Raight in a house in San Francisco de Dos Ríos.

There, they found a laboratory of marijuana and counted 314 plants, three bags with cannabis buds, lamps, air conditioning equipment and objects used for controlled production.

At the end of March, the Criminal Court of Extraordinary Turn of the First Judicial Circuit of San José released the suspects, as it was alleged that the raid was illegal.

However, the Functional Direction Operative Unit of the Public Prosecutor’s Office appealed the decision and the San José Criminal Court issued 6 months of preventive arrest against the accused who have not yet been located.
