Whirlwind caused damages in several areas

August 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

As a result of the heavy rains in the Central Valley, there were several incidents in San José and Alajuelita, mainly due to the damage caused by a whirlwind that occurred in the area and affected several houses.

According to Sigifredo Pérez, Chief of Operations of the CNE, “the Municipal Committees of Emergency and the institutions of response are in the field making assessments. We have reported more than 35 incidents between the two cantons.”

The chief said that the preliminary report listed about 20 affected houses in the canton of San José and about 15 in Alajuelita.

Caution is recommended in areas with vulnerability to flooding due to saturation of sewage systems. Also, take special care in areas where it has already rained.
