Why did they dress like this to vote?

April 1, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The group Somos Nuestras (“we are ours, #somosnuestras) draw attention during the second electoral day.
Wearing red clothing and a white hood, some 12 members bet outside the Joaquín García Monge school in Desamparados. The dress is based on the book The Tale of the Maid, a feminist narrative by the Canadian writer Margaret Atwood.

One of the members, who chose to remain anonymous, explained that the group in is made up of 40 women, who were distributed in different voting points of the country, for example in San Ramón and the Great Metropolitan Area (GAM).

The objective, they said, is achieving respect for women and the struggle for gender equity. There were no statements in favor or against a specific candidate.
