Wind gusts led to traffic lights failure in Barrio Tournón

January 20, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The recent strong wind gusts caused intermittent traffic lights at a crossing in Barrio Tournón, near the bus terminal Caribeños in San José.

And of course, this resulted in road chaos, especially in the peak hours.

Diego Rugama, head of Traffic of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), said that the systems were not functioning since Tuesday night.

Rugama also explained that during the previous week, when the country was under the influence of the cold front, there same problem was reported in about 10 or 15 sets of traffic lights, which were damaged by the wind.
