Woman suffers burns to 50% of her body after explosion of gas cylinder

September 10, 2017 by Staff News Writer

A woman of about 35 years old suffered burns in 50% of her body when an explosion hit her home. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Sunday in Piedades Norte de San Ramón.

According to the Fire Department report, a gas leak occurred in the cylinder that fed a clothes dryer. That leak found a point of ignition that caused an explosion, starting the fire in the house and affecting the owner, who was in the battery room of the house.

The victim was taken to the medical center in stable condition, although she had important burns on her face, arms and legs.

Sixty percent of the 70-square-meter house was affected, mainly in the ceiling and the battery room. The flames were quickly controlled by San Ramón firefighters.

There were no more victims.
